This is a wine MikeOfficer brought to dinner at PizzeriaRosso a few weeks ago:
1. ChanningDaughter's SculptureGarden RTW (12.5%; U/U; 91% Merlot/6% Teroldego/3% Blaufrankisch; 408 cs) 2010: Dark slightly murkey color; rather earthy/loamy black cherry cola/root beer some herbal/dusty fairly perfumed interesting/exotic nose; bit tart/lean/angular rather earthy/loamy black cherry cola/RCCola slight dusty/herbal/thyme flavor w/ some hard/coarse tannins; med.long exotic/black cherry cola/RCCola/root beer rather earthy/loamy/dusty/bit herbal somewhat rustic/coarse finish w/ ample hard/coarse tannins; a rather earthy/rustic red w/ not a whole lot of Merlot fruit to it; reminds me a lot of some Friulian Merlots or Cabs that I've had; rather interesting red that went well w/ the meatballs & pasta in red sauce.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. ChristopherTracey had requested some Carlisle wines for a tasting in one of his classes. He returned the favor by sending Mike a few btls of this RTW.
It was sad to hear about the death of WalterChanning a month ago. I understand he'd been battling dementia for several yrs.
ChristopherTracey is the winemaker at CD's. He's making some very interesting wines there from some uncommon varieties. He plays around w/ a lot of skin-contact ferments in his whites
