Shared my dinner wine w/ John this afternoon:
1. Peljessac Plavac CO: Peljacac Hills/Dalmatia/Croatia (14%; plavacMali; Imprtd: MontExp) Zagreb 2009: Very dark color; rather earthy/dusty some blackberry/boysenberry/Zin-like fairly strong nose much like an old-vine Sonoma Zin; very tart/acid/lean/austere some blackberry/Zin-like/plummy/boysenberry very coarse/rustic/austere flavor w/ ample/coarse/hard tannins; very long acid/tangy/bitey some boysenberry/blackberry/Zin-like earthy/dusty very austere/rustic finish w/ lots of hard/fierce tannins; a big/hard/rustic/rugged Zin-like wine; rather attractive nose but quite painful on the palate; might be OK w/ KC BarBQue where you'd get pain from two sides. $14.00 (CB)

A wee Bloody Pulpit:
1. PlavacMali was once thought to be an ancestor of Zinfandel. It turns out that DNA identifies Plavac as Crljenak Kaštelanski (ancestral Zinfandel) X Dobričić.
