Marlyne I can't testify personally to the 2006, but in general, Beaucastel takes 10 years or more. More significantly, even if you're of a mind to drink your Chateauneuf young, it tends to go through a "dumb stage" - in between "drinkably fruity-but-tannic" and "maturing" - where it offers neither youthful fruit nor the complexity of maturity but just not much but tannin. HOWEVER: At 9 years, an '06 might be nearing maturity, and 2006 is rated as an early-maturing year for CdP. It's always a tough call if you have only one bottle. It might be getting close. It probably couldn't hurt to wait a year or two more.
I hope someone with specific recent tasting experience will chime in, but this geneal advice for CdP has worked for me.
