WTN: '05 Fleurie and Tuscan, 08 Loire

Tuesday was chicken provencal, with broccoli and couscous, and the 2005 Vissoux/Chermette “Poncie” Fleurie, Velvety mouthfeel, lush black cherry and plum fruit, smoke and cocoa. No tannin left, balanced acids, very good length. Yes, there is a reason not to drink Beaujolais on release. I'm sure this can go farther but I see no reason to. Will get to my other bottle soon and hope it's as good as this one. A-

Wednesday skate grenobloise with brussels sprouts, wine was the 2008 Cazin/Petit Chambord Cour-Cheverny. Romorantin always reminds me of Chenin Blanc, and indeed there are wax & wool notes here, but dominant is lemon fruit that differentiates ir from CB. Fairly full, quite crisp, quite tasty. B+

Last night chicken with preserved lemons, brown rice, and some leftover vegetables; wine was the 2005 Montevertine Pian del Ciampolo. I’m no longer buying Montevertine but that’s no reason not to drink those I own. Fairly classic aged Chianti profile, dried cherry and black cherry with some saddle leather and rose notes. With some air it takes on a slight ashtray/oxidation note, but faint. Drink up. B/B+

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

Sounds lovely. I don't buy Vissoux anymore but can imagine they would repay this kind of cellaring very well.

Just curious. Why?

I can't buy everything and I never loved the wines as much as other Beaujolais. These days I mostly buy a range of Morgon producers and occasionally Coudert.

OK, thanks.
Following Dale's "I’m no longer buying Montevertine" in the opening post, which I took to be a political/moral position, I was wondering if there was something beyond the obvious.
