Trouble in Paso

by Dan Smothergill » Sun Apr 05, 2015 12:02 pm

We will be hearing a lot about water and the wine industry in California as emergency water regulations kick in. An article by Jeff Wheelwright comments on the situation in Paso Robles.
"Vineyard owners, who are relative newcomers, not only take the bulk of the groundwater but also can afford deeper wells, so as to take more. Class warfare is beginning. Even forming a committee to review the problem has been divisive."

Interesting comment from one reader taking issue with the comment you quote, claiming it an unproven assertion. Must be one of those new vineyard owners, :)

Thanks for the post.

My version didn't have comments. I'd be interested in seeing them.
