2007 Gustave Lorentz Riesling Altenberg de Bergheim Vieilles Vignes - France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru AOC (3/25/2015)
Formerly Gustave Lorentz was only a dim light on my radar screen but after this bottle he shines brighter. There was a lovely bouquet of fresh white fruit and flowers with a sprinkling of spice and hints of mineral. The dry medium bodied palate was softened by a delightful fragrance similar to that from the nose and was enlivened by minerals, including faint petrol, lively mouth-watering acidity and a nicely firm and long backbone with a saline touch. Very good.

1999 Delas Frères Côte-Rôtie Seigneur de Maugiron - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie (3/27/2015)
Lovely Côte-Rôtie rounder, somewhat pinoting and riper in its fruit than in some vintages but with the usual silky texture, fragrance, bright acidity, spice sprinkles and minerality. Very good.

2012 Domaine Vincent Siret-Courtaud Chateaumeillant - France, Loire Valley, Chateaumeillant (3/27/2015)
Attractive savoury fruit in this medium/light bodied Gamay/PN blend with mineral touches, fresh acidity and nice grip on its finish. Drink now. Good now.

2013 Earl Domaine Bizet Sancerre - France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Sancerre (3/29/2015)
Nothing to add or subtract from my previous TN. A lively, juicy and moreish Sancerre.

This would be a perfect brasserie wine for quaffing with a seafood platter and it was pretty good with cod in a mustard sauce. It had a lively nose full of green fruit particularly lime and gooseberry but free from SB exaggeration and traces of cats' piss. The medium bodied palate was equally lively with tangy fruit, flinty minerals, crisp mouth-watering acidity and a slightly saline spine. I don't think this has the transformative ageing potential of, say, the best from the two Cotat estates and it will probably never be better than now. Good+ right now.

I think I have that DF, though I could be wrong and it's the Hermitsge. Thanks for the note, definitely time to get around to it.

Delas seems to arouse only moderate enthusiasm in most geek circles but I have never been disappointed down to their entry level Côtes du Rhône Saint-Ésprit. I hope you enjoy it, Jenise. I also have 3 bottles of the Hermitage '99 which I haven't yet tried.
