Valley, Oregon. 13.5% abv. Screwcap. "A selection of the finest lots from the vintage from (Scott Paul) blocks of Maresh and Nysa Vineyards in the Dundee Hills, Ribbon Ridge Vineyard and Azana Vineyard on Chehalem Mountain."
When I picked up this bottle to open, I didn't really check the vintage and thought it might be a 2010--when I saw it was a 2012 I decided to go ahead and try it. It could probably benefit from 2-3 more years of cellaring and I will hold onto my remaining two bottles for a few years.
Purple color with crimson hue; nearly opaque. On the nose and palate I sensed dark cherries and a hint of pine needle. It was best on the third and final evening when it presented as more mellow, integrated and elegant than on the first evening. It did have enough gravitas to pair okay with a broiled lamb shoulder chop and baked potato.
Recommended but with decanting or further cellaring.
