After 6 failures from my abandoned stash, I finally found something drinkable:
1. Peterson Zin Dusi/PasoRobles (??%) 1990: Med.dark some murky/brown color; strong pencilly/cedary/oldZin/toasty/smokey/oak rather plummy/jammy/boysenberry/very ripe bit tired but interesting nose; soft earthy/jammy/bit raisened/plummy/boysenberry/Zin some hot/alcoholic rather cedary/pencilly/oldZin slight oxidized/late harvesty flavor w/ little tannins; long some dusty/OV very ripe/plummy/jammy/boysenberry/Zin bit raisened/late harvesty some cedary/pencilly/oldZin finish w/ little tannins; still has some fruit & still clinging to life and offers up some small pleasure; reminds of an old Ridge Dusi LateHrvst.

2. OjaiVnyd PinotNoir ClosPepeVnyd/Sta.RitaHills (14.0%) 2006: Med.color w/ no bricking; very smokey/pungent/bit reduced strong black cherry/PN/earthy rather complex nose; rather tart/lean beautiful bright/cherry/black cherry/PN/very spicy some toasty/smokey/oak/charred flavor w/ light slightly bitey tannins; very long strong smokey/toasty/oak/charred strong/bright/cherry/black cherry/PN/spicy slight earthy finish w/ light/angular tannins; probably as good as it's ever going to be.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. The Peterson Zin is a total mystery to me. I have no recollection whatsoever of this wine. It was a very simple lable with no other information on it, not even the alcohol level. Don't know which DusiRanch it came from...nothing.
___________
2. The Ojai, because of the strong smokey oak, was made in Adam's old style of Pinots. He's lightened the Ojai Pinots up quite a bit since those old days.
