Pinot Meunier! and Clos du Val Winners.

2012 Bouchaine Carneros Pinot Meunier

Outstanding light and elegant Pinot (but not quite!). Sour cherry, forest floor, mushroom. Plenty of acid, yet still soft and pretty. Earthier than most Carneros pinots...no cherry cough syrup.

Clos Du Val "Block Series" Wines 2012

From specific individual blocks on the Clos Du Val Carneros estate off Old Sonoma Road southwest of Napa City. A new "series", and I was somewhat impressed!

Chardonnay - delicious bright citrus, some eaarth, rounded Chardonnay fruit. Lovely wine-there is oak, but not dominant in any way.

Pinot Noir -More Carernos cherry fruit, but still a lovely earthy and savory note, also light and bright in flavor and texture.

Merlot -This was a lovely merlot. More on the herbal cool climate side, but plenty of body and fruit with a savory core that I quite enjoyed!

A very nice lineup of wines.
