Finally got to try the latest Christo:
1. Marietta Christo Lot#2 55% Sonoma/45% Mendocino (60% Syrah/28% PS/10% Grenache/2% Viognier; 15.2%) Geyserville NV: Very dark color; very strong ripe/blackberry/Syrah/juicy/boysenberry bit licorice rather dusty/OV light smokey/oak lovely ripe nose; lightly tart/tangy bit angular/hard strong blackberry/Syrah/boysenberry ripe/juicy flavor w/ some ripe/hard tannins; very long ripe/juicy/blackberry/Syrah/boysenberry lightly tart/tangy finish w/ some ripe/hard/angular tannins; loads of juicy Syrah fruit and needs a yr to come together into a harmonious package; a very good value at $20.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Christo is Marietta's Rhone blend, analogous to their Zin OldVineRed. The Lot#1 was released early this summer and they sold thru it pretty rapidly. It seemed to have a bit more Zin-like character to it and resembled the OldVineRed more. This Lot#2 is Syrah thru&thru and packed w/ juicy/ripe Syrah fruit. Some of the grapes undoubtedly come from their GibsonRanch in McDowellVlly.
