Bergsträße Winzer Auerbacher Fürstenlager Riesling Auslese 2001
I have a special place in my heart for Hessische Bergstrasse. It's like the youngest, forgotten brother of Rheingau and Rheinhessen. Try as it may, it’ll never live up to the best wines from the best sites of the other two, but the effort is charming. They seem to be ready to drink sooner, and never really develop the Rheingau muscle. Apricot, pulverized peach preserves, smoked orange juice , four day old flowers, and the beginnings of kerosene oil. A little acid left, and thoroughly weighty. A little simple maybe, but this ain't bad for co-op wine. 8,5% Alc. Plus a good price $13/500ml
Prost!
