Sort of an a-la-David title so this garnered your attention :D.

WTN: 2010 Undurraga Carignan TH Maule , Chile.

Good natural cork, 14,5% alc, decant one hour, L 12297, 100 % Carignan, $28 Cdn. Cellared for over a year, TH is Terroir Hunter! Used French oak for 16 months. Dry-farmed, 50-year-old vineyard in
Loncomilla district.

Deep ruby purple color. Inviting nose of spice, black fruits, cherry violets. "Think blackberries" from across the table.
Initial entry thought is big wine here, "not even like the Chinon we had last night" from fellow taster frowning. Thought rather extracted, not very easy to drink so put bottle aside after one glass. The tannins were nicely integrated however.
Day 2 kinda turn around. Riper fruit on the long finish, spice, better balance, "more harmonious". Not my fave wine of the year so far but can see the appeal for many folks out there.

It worked; you got my attention! How was the oak on this, Bob? When I visited Chile 15ish years ago, Unduragga (which post-introduction we childishly renamed 'Underwear'), were the oakiest wines of the trip. Would not be surprised if things have changed in all this time, but have they?
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

The oak was there Jenise but under control. Not really my style of wine at all but purchased as we were talking Carignan here a year ago. Pass in future.
