After a fail on 3 '89 Ravenswood Zins, found two that were drinkable:

KentRasmussenWnry PinotNoir Carneros (Estate; 13%) 1989: Light rather bricked bit browning color; some dusty/earthy some toasty/smokey/oak/pencilly/cedary/oldPN slight cherry/fruity/PN slight bretty/leathery complex nose; bit tart/tangy/metallic some pencilly/cedary bit bretty/horsecollar slight cherry/oldPN rather toasty/oak/charred flavor w/ light/drying tannins; med.long bit tart/tangy/metallic/drying out cedary/pencilly/oldPN bit earthy/leathery/bretty finish w/ light/drying tannins; a rather interesting old Pinot but on its last legs and drying out.

RosenblumCllrs PinotNoir GeorgeHendryVnyd/NapaVlly TW (U; Aged: 60 gal Fr.oak) 1989: Med.color w/ light bricking; strong toasty/oak/charred/bit Burgundian some cedary/pencilly/oldPN slight black cherry/PN quite complex nose; soft rather pencilly/cedary oldPinot/bit Burgundian toasty/charred/oak slight cherry/fruity complex flavor w/ light/gentle tannins; long rather cedary/pencilly/oldPinot bit Burgundian/smokey/charred/oak slight black cherry/PN slight tangy/metallic finish w/ light/drying tannins; starting to dry out but still has some black cherry/PN fruit and an attractive Burgundian/old Pinot character.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Both of these Pinots were on the shakey side and showing that tangy/metallic character of wines that are drying out. They still had a bit of Pinot fruit lurking in the background. But both pretty much survivors, still showing some interesting things and offering up a bit of mostly intellectual pleasure. Good enough for the left-over pork last night.
