The former Chicago Bears football coach has partnered with Mendocino Wine Co. to create a line of wines named after his favorite high-energy TV personality: himself. The line includes several varietals, but the pinnacle -- the head coach, if you will -- is the 2004 Mike Ditka Kick Ass Red Mendocino Red Wine ($50), a blend of 56 percent Zinfandel with Syrah and Petite Sirah that the winery says Ditka "actively participated in evaluating and blending." The likable, jammy flavor may leave you flat on your back like a sack from a stiff-armed linebacker.
Does this fall into the category of critter wines?
