Interesting long report from “The Academic Wino” on lab analysis of wine kept in glass and PET plastic bottles. What’s your opinion?

My opinion is that PET bottles have their use but are not intended for aging wines, they are for wine for immediate consumption. (as indeed most wines are consumed)

I've had PET 187ml bottles in economy cabins on BA, SAS & EasyJet flights and weight savings must have been a huge attraction for the airlines..

Summary in linked report suggests that wine in PET should be consumed within 6 months.

Paul Sapin, major French bottler of PET guarantees a shelf life of 24 month for 75cl bottles and 12 months for 187ml. (see http://www.pinotage.org/2010/01/khulu-s ... video.html as the old me has a bottle dropped from a height)
