WTN: Science! (2010 Produttori)

2010 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco (1/21/2015)
I purchased one bottle, specifically to immediately open and determine if I wanted to buy more. Clearly the wine was way too young, but it did provide sufficient data for a purchasing decision. There was plenty of red fruit on opening, and the medium-bodied palate was initially quite inviting and well balanced. After about an hour open, the tannins began to significantly intrude, and only became stronger as time went on. I liked the overall impression of the wine, with the obvious caveat that it was too young for pleasurable drinking.

And yes, I did decide to get more.

Nearly 72 hours after I first opened it the tannins have backed off some, and it seems much more open. This bodes well.

Lots of people are saying 2010 is a great year in Piemonte. But reading this it seems like it is also a fairly classically styled wine? So is it that for once the phrase "great year" doesn't mean an over the top, super-ripe style?
I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.

2010 see,s to be outstanding yet classical. 2009 and 2007 are more in that rich vein.
