WTN: René Geoffroy Brut Expression

NV René Geoffroy Champagne Brut Expression Premier Cru
Disgorged in 2012, this is a solid, if unexceptional Champagne. I got it for about $30, which is fair vale. Overall it had good fruit, a nice mouthfeel and good persistence. My only quibble was that it seemed a touch sweeter than I prefer. It was an easy wine to drink, and was a crowd pleaser, so it did serve its purpose. If I could get more in the $30-$35 range I would buy it for parties and non-geek dinners. Otherwise I'll step up the price bracket for something a more interesting.

One name I have seen mentioned from time to time David.
AAMOI, on Saturday night at the Devines Xmas staff party, we tasted the NV Brut from Thierry Massin. Small producer, quite dry but of real interest. I think the store is going to bring in more small producers.
