Larry brought this as a mystery wine last week:
1. OjaiVnyd Riesling KickOnRanch/SBC (13.0%) 2007: Med.gold color; very strong Mosel valve oil/fusel oil/gout de petrol some fragrant/R/floral/slatey quite complex beautiful/fragrant nose; very tart/lean/almost eviscerated some mineral/earthy strong Mosel valve oil/gout de petrol light floral/R/pineapple flavor; very long gout de petrol/Mosel valve oil/pungent light floral/R/pineapple very tart/lean/hard finish; guessed it was a Mosel R or Alsatian old-time Riesling; a beautiful perfumed nose but a bit lean/screechy on the palate.

1. This was when Adam had started segueing into much higher acids in his whites. On release, this wine didn't show much of anything except a painful/hurtey degree of acidity. I recall Larry hating this wine and finding no redeeming features in it. It was/is a classic Alsatian old-timey R. The more painful it is on release, the better it's going to be w/ age. Larry totally rejects that buying strategy and thinks an Alsatian R should be soft/goopy/flabby and off-dry...in the classic Z-H mold. This Ojai is a clear indicator that he's wrong. It'll probably go out another 10 yrs is my guess.
