WTN: 2012 Littorai Cerise Pinot Noir (Anderson Valley)

by David M. Bueker » Sat Dec 20, 2014 10:46 am

2012 Littorai Pinot Noir Cerise Vineyard - USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley (12/19/2014)
An early and successful check in for this wine, where there was lots of fresh, red fruit and a surprising amount of complexity. Licorice, earth and spice tones all came through, especially as the wine opened up after about 90 minutes. There is a back end tannic element that needs some bottle age to smooth out, but I like it now, as it adds a bit of additional character to the wine.

I'm so envious! I love love LOVE that vineyard's pinot noirs. Was always a favorite among Adam Lee's stable at Siduri, though I admit I've lost touch and am not sure if he still gets fruit from there.

Jenise,

I think you would love Littorai. Along with Rhys they have become my favorites in California.

David, I know I would. I've had exactly one in the past, curious from posts by you and Dietz and lucky to find it on a restaurant wine list at a comparatively reasonable price. It was magnificent.

Littorai fan here (and I like their Chards, too). Thanks for note

Have not had a Littorai Chardonnay yet. I hope that I get offered some one of these days. Until then I am pretty satisfied with Ceritas and Arnot-Roberts.

Thanks for the review. I have always liked their version of Pinot Noir from the Hirsch vineyard. If you have the chance to try some I recommend them.
