I've recently been treated to several very nice Burgundies, red and white:
'13 Dom. Chene, Macon Milly-Lamartine. Just about as nice a wine that I've tasted from the Macon. Full, round, complete.
'11 Olivier Bourgogne "Les Setilles" , a deft touch of oak makes a perfect white Burg.
'02 JP Magnien Morey St.-Denis 1st Cru, "Les Faconnieres" bought on my last trip to Burgundy and opened for my daughter's birthday. All you could ask for. You will probably never see this wine, but the next wine might still be floating around.
'07 Rémi Jeanniard Morey St. Denis 1er Cru "Clos des Ormes", equally impressive, with everything that you would expect in a 1st Cru. Turns out that both of these Morey's are almost next to each other.
'11 Evening Land Cotes-du-Nuit Villages, what a surprise. After a double decant a about 30 minutes of air this was mind-blowing. From a "Last Bottle" deal @ $17 this is one of those "you'll never see again deals, just relax and enjoy". Should have bought at least a case.
While the Louis Bouillot Blanc de Noirs, Crement de Bourgogne was our top sparkler in our Champagne/Sparkling wine tasting, followed closely by Domaine Carneros and Champagne Montaudon.
This is an interesting producer, from Oregon, owns land in Burgundy, make wine there, but still lives in Oregon. A dedicated Burgundian transplant (wouldn't we all like to be?).
It's been a better than average several weeks for me, with some nice Bordeaux sprinkled in there as well (i.e. '05 Lynch-Moussas).
