TN: 2012 Marotti Campi Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Albiano, Marche It¸

Diam-type cork, $19 Cdn, 13% alc, Lot 13052, no oak.

Bright straw yellow, no green. Floral nose with peach, green apple and some minerality. Some pear as it opened in the glass, nice focused nose here.
Initial entry is dryish, savoury, fresh, good length, near ripe pear and peach tones, very drinkable. Nice fruit balance here, not too tart in my opinion. Medium-bodied, went well with sun-dried tomato chicken breast and salad. Buy again!

Bob, I'm a fan of Verdicchio but it's a long time since I had one. I have particularly fond memories of drinking a V Matelica from La Monacesca in a restaurant on a beach underneath some cliffs near Ancona with our feet almost in the Adriatic; the setting of course enhanced the excellent seafood and wine.

I have rarely been troubled by sugar in Verdicchio although some are a bit low in acidity.

I cannot recall ever having a Verdicchio that was not dry.

So here is my follow up but this time tasting the Luzano.

WTN: 2012 Marotti Campi Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore Luzano, Marche.

Diam style cork, $20 Cdn, 13.5% alc, Lot 13361.

Initially I found the Albiano above more approachable on day 1, but this Luzano developed nicely overnight.
Medium straw in color, Lime and some herbs on the nose plus plenty of apparent mineral nuances. More apple than anything with slight floral tones.
Initial entry thought is good acidity and quite minerally in tone. Nice length, I did not serve too chilled and this seemed to help. "Some nutty notes here" from across the table, which I find typical. Medium-bodied, quite dry, did not seem to have the slight tropical fruit flavors of the Albiano. Satisfying with chicken and shrimp.
