WTN: Fogarty GWT '12....(short/boring)

by TomHill » Tue Dec 09, 2014 12:58 pm

Tried this last night w/ dinner:
1. ThomasFogarty GWT MontereyCnty (Skin contact: 25%-30%; 13.3%; RS: 0.5%; www.FogartyWinery.com) 2012: Light gold color; very strong lychee/GWT/floral/ginger/spicy slight earthy/metallic quite attractive nose; rather rich/lush strong lychee/GWT/floral/mango fairly spicy/nutmeg bit soft off-dry slight tangy/metallic/earthy flavor; long strong lychee/GWT/spicy/floral slight nutmeg soft/off-dry bit tangy/earthy finish; quite an attractive low-key GWT w/o the intense hair-oil aspects you get from Alsace; reminds of a Helfrich or Sparr GWT; a very nice GWT at a very fair price. $17.00 (KK)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. The grapes come from the Schied VientoVnyd on the west side of the SalinasVlly. The color (little) suggests the skin-contact was all pre-fermentation.
It's been a fair number of yrs since I tried a Fogarty GWT. I remember them as being too sweet for my taste and low on acid. Though I'd prefer a bit more acid, this GWT was very attractive and spoke strongly of GWT.
