A bunch of 2012s over this holiday weekend. First were a couple of Morgon. The 2012 Chamonard Fleur de Lys which had such a lovely fragrant floral nose but was a bit hard on the palate. Maybe it never got warm enough, but I look forward to more bottles. The 2012 Descombes VV on the other hand was its usual elegant lacy crystalline self. Great.
My first exposure to 2012 La Clarine Sierra Foothills Sumu Kaw Syrah was positive, although I didn't get bowled over. Lots of the distinctive olive aromas I associate with 'cool weather' syrah, although it was plenty dark and ripe and said 14.2% on the label. I took it to a party so didn't really study in depth, but look forward to more from this producer.
The last was a very delicious and easy bottle of 2012 Puffeney Poulsard M. Integrates pretty quickly and leaves me with nice mouthfuls of puckery crisp and light but still plenty flavorful wine. Nice nice nice.
