2001 Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Ursules Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru (11/27/2014)
Nearly but not quite mature. There is an earthy richness, along with a core of red fruit and herbal accents. It's Burgundy, and exactly the type of experience I look for. It's not exalted, but it worked properly with our traditional, if basic, Thanksgiving dinner. Served alongside the 2006 Rhys Alpine Pinot, it showed more aged complexity, but less mid-palate depth. It was an interesting contrast between the two wines.
2006 Rhys Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains (11/27/2014)
Happy Thanksgiving with Rhys Alpine Pinot Noir. This has developed quite a bit, and is in a nice place, even if it has time to spare. Floral, earthy and richly fruity, it's more open and complex than a few years ago. I wish I had more bottles, as I think it has several years of positive development ahead of it. That being said, it was nice to sample a Rhys Pinot that had been allowed to develop.
2007 Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (11/27/2014)
Creamy, intense and effusively fruity. Bright acidity cuts through the richness of Thanksgiving dinner. I only got a few small sips, but they were most enjoyable.
