WTN: 2011 Matthiasson Cabernet Sauvignon

2011 Matthiasson Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley - USA, California, Napa Valley (11/26/2014)
Our first bottle of this for last night's dinner was corked, but we got back on the horse and pulled my other bottle. I am really glad we did. This wine reminds me of what Napa Cabernet used to be. It's a balanced, black cherry/cassis fruited wine, with no hint of jamminess or overly obtrusive oak. Not a lot of tannins, (so that's one modern attribute), so it was very easy to drink, but that's ok. Not every wine has to spend decades in the cellar to be enjoyable. Everyone was very happy with the wine, and it was a great dinner accompaniment.
