Swan '11 Estate Pinot Noir

by John Treder » Sat Nov 22, 2014 11:50 pm

Joe's vineyard hit the spot, and Rod's skills haven't eroded. I tasted this when I went to pick up my club wines today. Bought some.
It's the classic Swan PN. If you know it, you know what I'm saying. If you don't, you need to check it out.
It's very young yet; 3 or 4 years to the real drinking window. But WOW!

I have to give them another try. Have to admit I was not all that excited by the Swan lineup last summer when I tasted there.

Brian, have you been a fan in the past? Hard to imagine the year Swan's pinots wouldn't excite a palate like yours.

I have been a fan in the past, Jenise. Hence, my disappointment. :? Could be a variety of reasons....including mood, palate disturbed by the bicycling (although I don't recall using Gatorade that day!).

So...I do need to give them another try. I still remember a light and herbal and delicious 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon, of all things. I snagged the last two bottles sitting forlornly on the cement floor by the doorway!

Those bottles scattered around the barrel/tasting room hold many surprises.
