I have been pretty impressed with the whites from Bernd Schales, a German Canadian who owns the 8th Generation winery in the Okanagan Valley BC. He sure seems to know how to make a good riesling!
TN: 2012 8th Generation Vineyard Riesling Classic.
13.2% alc, $23 Cdn, SC, 30yr old vines, popped and poured. It appears almost colorless, with floral, peach, pear and citrus tones on the nose.
Initial entry thought is dry, long finish. Mineral, tropical white fruit, green apples mixed in. Great acidity, medium-bodied. I see no reason to age this wine which stood up very well over 24 hrs.
Hand-selling this one to folks who think "riesling is always too sweet!".
