WTN: Forey Morey is Moreish

2002 Forey Père et Fils Morey St. Denis - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis (10/28/2014)
I last had this wine several years ago, and it was ok, but nothing terribly interesting. Last night was a different story for this Morey.

I gave the wine about 30 minutes of air, and it blossomed. There was still plenty of deep, red fruit, but also an earthy, floral and spicy complexity. The mouthfeel was quite fine (versus more rustic in the past) and overall easy to take on its own or with food. I drank about half the bottle over the course of two hours, and it kept on delivering in a consistent and delicious manner. The rest is corked up, and back in the cellar for a revisit tonight.

Not a producer I really know. From note it sounds fairly traditional/restrained?

Forey is a Rosenthal import, so that says something. BUT he does use a good bit of wood in the 1er and GC wines. The few wines I have had in the past always wore it well. The Morey Village wine is pretty basic though.
