Sunday Chat

by James Roscoe » Sun Oct 26, 2014 9:14 am

It is another wonderful weekend in the eastern US. I am off leaf peeping this afternoon in Virginia (there may be some wine tasting involved). Please consider coming to Chat to discuss your wine, food and other interesting aspects of the past week. Here are the times when the fun gets started: at 4 p.m. Eastern Time; 3 p.m. Central Time; 2 p.m. Mountain Time; 1 p.m. Pacific Time; 8 p.m. in the K; 9 p.m. in Italy, France, Germany, and Sweden; 10 p.m. in Finland and Israel; 7 a.m. Monday in Sydney and environs; and 9 a.m. Monday in New Zealand. I believe these are all corrected for standard time changes. If I am off, let me know. Please let me know when the time changes your neck of the woods so I remember to make the appropriate changes.

The fun starts HERE!!!!!
Yes, and how many deaths will it take 'til he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

I tried to log into Sunday chat and installed java but it is still saying that Java is not enabled after I got a message that Java was successfully installed!

Too bad, JC. Well, I'm out of there now. Got tired of waiting...

Good night!

Just in case anybody's wondering, the recent forum upgrade has no connection whatsoever with the chat, which has not been changed. :(

Ayup. The java bug lives on. Every single device I own is unable to access chat. I tried each one today.

Time for a new chat room.

I went through that several months ago--and I'm so untechnical, I didn't trust that I didn't do it right so went through the whole scenario twice. To no avail. Sometimes I'm able to ignore it and get in, but mostly I can't. I've given up trying.

I've been repeating it for years, but the java thing sucks. I haven't been able to log into chat in years. Let's find another chat already?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: If the chatters come up with something they like, and it's affordable, I'll be happy to install it or have it installed. I don't have time to do the research, though.

The bad news is that most Web chat rooms require java, but maybe some of the newer ones have less buggy solutions than Parachat.

Robin, the problem is that none of us regulars really know what we are doing. Quite honestly, I get in through Java and FF pretty easily. Give us some parameters and maybe we could work something out.

Well, I have few parameters other than "no more than $10/month." :D

Try googling: Live chat software for websites, or use this link:
https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=c ... r+websites

Browse around, see if you guys find a chat room setup that appeals to you that rents for a reasonable price, and if we CAN install it, we WILL.

An alternative that just occurred to me as I was googling: Parachat, which provides our current chat, has a Facebook page. It might be worth a look to see if others have addressed similar problems, or if they're responsive to questions. :)
