Any bright ideas for a quick Wine Focus? It's tickling my memory that we held something in reserve when we went with Rhones for September.

Got proposals? Toss 'em in the ring!

We did "Zinfandel and its Cousins" just last October, though. Anything else we might try before we do a re-run?

Okay, here we go! Back at the end of July, Joy Lindholm suggested:

Excluding the major regions like Bordeaux and Rhone, but focusing on the south west, Languedoc, Roussillon, Provence, etc? There is lots of interesting stuff to be found in those parts that could make for interesting discussion.

At that time, suffering from the heat, I said naaaah, too hot for all those hefty reds.

But I promised Joy that I wouldn't forget, and now I haven't. It's already Oct 2, so let's do it!

That's actually a pretty interesting idea. Has there been an Orange Wine Wine Focus? It's still a fairly specific category with lots of commonalities across the wines, but they're being made in all regions so there's wide availability.

That said, I guess Hefty Reds is winning for now.

The biggie here is that orange wines just aren't happening between the coasts. Even in a fair-size city with good wine selection, I'm SOL at local retail. I could probably order a bottle or two from a retailer who's willing to ship to us hillbillies, but it would be a pain.

Since it's already Oct 2, let's stick with the Southwest. I'll post it now.
