Is the 2002 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile the best CFE since the 1990? Considering everything (including the dreaded premox) I would venture to say yes. It's bracing, unendingly deep, and teases out its flavors just enough to get you hooked. This is stunning Riesling that reminds me why I continue to pursue that "runner's high" of the perfect expression of fruit, stone and steel.

The 1993 from magnum was tolerable last Saturday night.

The 2002 is truly the wine of the vintage, amazing how they could produce something like that in a not so great vintage.

Many lots of the 1993 went through malo, beware of those.

I have had a number of fine 2002 Alsatian wines. Boxler Brand springs to mind as nearly the equal of the CFE. Others as well.

For me Trimbach is always hors-concours, and I am not fond of Riesling from granite soil.

sounds like I should try one soon, I thought great a few years ago, but recent notes were saying closed

I have one ready for tonight, with a 2005 Foreau in the wings as a backup.
