Brief WTN De Lorimier Mosaic 2000

by Brian K Miller » Thu Dec 14, 2006 11:25 pm

Not sure about this one! Positives: It's not jammy or sweet or caramelly. Quite leathery. Is it the Malbec?

Negatives: Not a lot of fruit. Quite a kick of alcohol (but then, I tend to drink too fast)

Still, a decent quaffer with a very dark fruit character and nice leathery notes. A little acidic, though-a shoe polish??? nose???

I know another poster dumped his Mosaic down the drain. Didn't do that, but I think I prefer the straight Malbec, based on a winery tasting. **

I prefer the Malbec too.

Mosaic doesn't quite know what it wants to be, I think. It's better after 5+ years, at least for earlier vintages (I haven't opened either of my '01s.)
