WTN: The Peace of the Syrah be with You

2010 Pax Syrah Alder Springs Vineyard - USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino County (7/6/2014)
Rich, balanced and full of deep black fruit and smoked meat aromas, this is very much what I look for in Syrah. There is nothing candied about it, just a beautiful combination of flavors that run from the dark (tar, berry, smoke) to the bright (herb, floral), creating a complex blend that is enjoyable to drink now. There is significant structure from both tannin and acid, so putting bottles aside for further age is highly recommended.

David: Having just become a big fan of Wind Gap, is the "Pax" label a richer, more conventionally New World version of his wines?

Edit: Alder Springs is well inland...maybe that explains the bigger style?

Richer than Wind Gap, not as rich as old Pax or current Agharta.
