Delicious. They are producing some great white wines for summer drinking up in Mendocino County. 2005 Palladian Cabernet Sauvignon. From near the entrance to Meadowood. Very Bordeauxish in style. Medium body with plentiful acids and lovely red and blue fruit. Cassis notes. Great bottle age showing already, with maturing earthyness. Fantastic wine. Fairly priced at $40. Hopefully Rick in Yountville has more, although he told me the 2008 vintage is also fantastic.
2009 Calder Wine Company Charbono. Now THIS was interesting. Other Charbonos I have tried are very "Napa" in their richness and color and extraction...although still quite quaffable. THIS wine tasted like its Alpine foothills lineage...much lighter in character with a very Savoie feeling to it....almost Poulsard!!!!!!!! Cranberry fruit, a touch of herbal notes. Light on the palate, with good acidity. A very interesting wine!
