Just in the nick of time, opened the Philippe Colin 1er Cru Maranges La Fussiere 2004. Almost pale tawny/garnet color, giving up a cedar, tobacco, black raspberry nose. Powder puff tannins, so soft they caressed the tongue with just enough finish to make me pay attention. Dried red fruit and plums on the palate played perfectly with my grilled, but rare, Copper River Salmon. While everything about this wine was pleasant, it was at the same time waving good-bye with every sip, with just a haunting whisper: "Remember me". I knew this was a one night stand for which I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. No regrets...
