Wineries near Cambria ~ Paso Robles

by Dan W » Tue May 20, 2014 2:03 pm

Greetings,

I’m a new member who was a dedicated beer drinker until bloating issues caused me to stop. As such, I tried a sip of my wife’s Pinot Noir and now I’m hooked :D

We are taking a trip to Cambria in a few weeks and I thought we’d stop at a few wineries so I could educated myself on the finer aspects of wine. This brings me to my question: can someone recommend a few “must see” wineries to visit for a first-timer? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A non-brainer, Dan. There in Cambria is a small wnry..TreViti. One of the coldest vnyds in all Calif. Terrific Syrah/Pinot/Chard.
MariaBenetti is the lady behind it.
Over in Paso, I'd recommend both TablasCreek (a variety of wine, very fairly priced, very good quality) and PaxSurTerre (tiny wnry, but
excellent quality..may require an appt). Other will chime in for Paso recs.
Would also recommend in Paso for lunch/dinner ThomasHill Organics. Not sure why, but that name just sorta resonates w/ me!! :-)

Dan, here's a thread from only a month or so ago with various recomendations:

Have a great time--Cambria's beautiful! Paso has its charms too, and some of the surrounding towns have a great western movie kind of ambience to them.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
