Urban Winery Stop: Donkey and Goat and Broc Cellars

Ended a bicycle ride here...brought the bicycle INSIDE the wineries, thank-you-very-much!

Donkey and Goat

2012 Untended Chardonnay. I simply love the tangy minerality of this old vine (almost abandoned) Mendocino County vineyard. Delicious stuff!

Broc Cellars

2012 Green Valley (Solano County) Valdigue. From 100-year old vines described to me as rugged old bushes which are not even in traditional "rows". Light strawberry fruit and plum skin with delicious funkyness. Outstanding character! Liked this more than the Kermit Lynch Beaujolais I had tried earlier.

2011 Nero D'Avola Mendocino County. Wow. This wine was funky delicious! Bright cherry licorice fruit with a fine tangyness and earthy funk. I LOVE this wine.

2009 Sonoma Valley Syrah. A much "bigger" and bolder style of wine than the current Broc lineup, this still had delicious, if alcoholic, dark plum fruit with plentiful acid.
