WTN: The Fresh Taste of Bel Air

by Jenise » Mon May 12, 2014 12:21 pm

2007 Moraga, Bel Air, California
This winery is now owned by Rupert Murdoch who bought the estate in Los Angeles' tony Bel Air neighborhood above Wilshire's Miracle Mile, which includes vineyard and winery, about a year ago. My neighbor was given a bottle, and he shared a glass over the fence last night (summer's here, will be a lot of Over The Fence reports!). Gorgeous wine, uncommonly elegant: plush on the palate with deep flavors of dark berries, tobacco and just a little herbal complexity. Not built for long aging but so good now, who could wait.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Interesting. Did it make you want to watch Fox News?

Jenise, you've forgotten LA already. Bel Air is much further west than the Miracle Mile which is Wilshire blvd between La Brea & Fairfax. A little further north of Wilshire in that stretch is the original Farmer's Market. I know because Du Pars is still there and that had the best hot fudge sundays in all of West LA, Hollywoood, area. Spent a great deal of time there when in high school. By the way it's still there in the Farmer's Market. :D

Dang, you're right of course. And I remember Dupars! Do you rememer the donuts? When I was a kid they made their own donuts, square pillow shaped cake donuts that had a lot of spice, and they were then just dusted with powdered sugar. They may have made other kinds too, but these are what my dad would sometimes bring a bag of home from business lunches--oh they were good.
