Last Wednesday a special dinner was served at a local upscale restaurant, featuring foods paired with wines from two local wineries, Arrowhead Springs and Leonard Oakes (I know the wine makers at both wineries), and I missed it. Two days prior to this, Mary Jo and I attended a Sauvignon Blanc blind tasting at Leonard Oakes, where 30 SBs were presented, five of which were local (I haven't written up my notes for this yet). That being said, I have tasted most of the wines presented at the dinner, but to have them paired with such great food must have been a great experience. I don't plan on missing the next dinner like this. Regarding wines from the Niagara, NY Escarpment AVA, all I can say is "We've come a long way, baby". Here is a link to one review of the dinner:
