Tonight we mistakenly opened a Vincent & Sofie Morey '10 Bourgogne Blanc (Chassagne). I was saving for a dinner along with one of their Chasagne-Montrechet reds, which are also very good. But WTH, we broke out some good charcuterie and enjoyed ourselves. A lot worse things can happen (and probably will). We first finished an opened bottle of Tendil & Lombardi Champagne, Blanc de Noirs NV Brut, this was enjoyable, but nothing to write home about (88-89 pts). The Morey Bourgogne was delightful (I reported earlier about the high quality of their '10 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge) served with Stilton cheese, smoked salmon, Brie, olives and crackers. We should all live like this at least once a week, and not necessarily on the week-end. And with dinner of chicken, slaw, salad, I poured the '11 George Deboeuf Beaujolais-Villages. I am going out on a limb and saying that this vintage is the best Beaujolais vintage I've ever seen. If you tasted this wine alongside 5 other red Burgundies of any stripe (village level and below) it would not come in last. A delicious wine with food and a great value at around $10-$11. Just close your eyes (forget about what you paid for it) and enjoy a tasty wine. And it can be almost any of the '11's from any producer.
