Had several notable wine this weekend. Starting with the 2012 Buti Nages rose' from Chateau de Nages. More than serviceable and a good value @$10. Drink up though as the '13's will be here before you know it. The '11 Cht. Rauzan Despagne (Entre-Deus-Mers) is a well rounded and tasty blend of equal parts sauvignon, simillon, and muscadell. Went well with Bonne Bouche ash covered goat cheese from Vermont. The Roger and Didier Raimbault '11 Sancerre "Les Belles Cotes" was a very correct wine and also paired well with the goat cheese. For a chardonnay we had the "Tastevinage" Thevenin '10 Bourgogne Hautes-Cotes de Beaune. This was nice with a blue from Beaujolais. We ended th weekend with veal meatballs on pasta and served with the Faiveley '10 Mercurey. Turned out to be a perfect match. The wine was lighter but clearly Burgundy, with a pronounced nose, but you could have read a book through the wine. Very nice with the dish. This wine is improving and firming up, but still a lighter pinot noir, though very nice for what it is. I almost forgot the star of the show. Friday night, with grass-fed rib-eye we had the '05 La Tour Carnet (Haut-Medoc). With a 2 hour decant this was very nice and perfect with the beef.
