2003 Chateau Lynch Bages

Beautiful deep dark purple color. Exotic nose of coffee beans, leather, licorice, vanilla, herbs, smoke and cedar. On the palate great complexity and length. Some raspberry and cherry fruit and herbs. Nice acidity and smooth tannins. Very elegant. Loved it. Should continue to show well for a while I'd guess.

Sounds good.

I've only opened a couple of the 2003 monsters (e.g. Pavie), and found them rather unpleasant - hot, overripe, no fun at all.

I have some Branaire, Pontet Canet and Leoville Barton that I have higher hopes for.

I think Northern Medoc might turn out pretty well, if ripe.
But Merlot heavy righties- my limited experience is ugh
I don't have Lynch, but have some Leo-Bart as well.

I agree with Dale. 2003 was considered a darn good vintage in northern places like Pauillac, St E and St J.
