Wine dinner planned for friday

by Josh » Wed Dec 06, 2006 8:49 pm

Just excited.

I have hired a private chef to come by and do a six course dinner for 6 of my best freinds.

Further I have hired the head of a prominent local wine importer to pare wines with every course as well as stop by for a 1 hour wine tasting before hand.

I get to meet with the wine friday to chat about the selections and everything.

I'll post the menu tomorrow as well as wines and tasting notes friday or saturday.

Same old question: where's my invite?

Probably stuck in the mail. Sorry, this happens from Bermuda quite often.

My invitation must have been lost. Will you resend it with the hotel tickets and airfare? (I am looking for a lot of free handouts this week.) Enjoy!

Josh,

I'm curious, is that a typo? Is it actually Rosenblum?

The Beringer Cabernet should be good drinking but I do prefer Pinot Noir or even Beaujolais Cru or a light Rhone red with duck. Have fun and I look forward to the after notes.

I agree that the cabernet may not be my first chioce with the duck, but all in all looks like a wonderful evening. Being able to share wine with friends is always enjoyable, even better with food, and more courses must just mean it's 6 times better, right? :)

Have fun, and thanks for sharing, fun to see the menu and think about how I might plan something like this.

Everyone needs to learn the "Cab with duck" lesson, don't take it too hard.

Do you mean the duck and Cabernet combination was terrible or the whole dinner? I hope the chef didn't disappoint.

How was the Graham's? The '77 seems to be rather controversial - some saying the alcohol sticks out too much even with a lengthy decanting and others saying that all is fine and still others saying that there is monstrous bottle variation. I've got one bottle that I haven't dared open yet. Is it nearing maturity?
