by TomHill » Sun Feb 09, 2014 10:42 pm

Tried these two this morning w/ breakfast RiceKrispies:
1. MonchieroCarbonne ReCit DOCG: RoeroArneis (13.5%; www.WineBow.com) Canale 2012: Med.light yellow color; somewhat fragrant pears/apple/toasted almonds rather stony/earthy pleasant classic Piemontese Arneis nose; fairly tart rich/lush rather stony/earthy light pear/apple/pineapple/almonds simple flavor; med. rather stony/earthy bit metallic/tangy tart/rich/lush light pear/apple/almonds finish; a pleasant/simple fairly classic but not of the pleasure of the Vietti and doesn't hold a canfle to SamBilbro's/Idlewild Arneis. $23.00 (AV)

2. P.Multier AC: CdR (CepageSyrah; 11%-14%) Ch.duRozay/Condrieu 1985: Med.dark color w/ fair browning; slightly tired/oxidized/old red some Rhonish/roasted/smokey/bacon fat/coffee bean slight herbal/rosemary quite complex nose; soft bit oxidized/tired attractive roasted/NR/espresso/smokey/bacony/herbal/thyme rather smooth/velvety flavor w/ no tannins; long some dried out/tired/bit oxidized quite pleasant smokey/pungent/NR/coffee bean/bacon/roasted/old NR finish w/ light/smooth tannins; a bit on the tired/aged size but still clinging to life and giving some pleasure.

And a wee BloodyPulpit:
1. The Multier was in the stash I found in my garage that had had uncontrolled storage, standing upright, for some 25 yrs. Most of these reds I've been cracking open have been pretty much dead&gone. Down the drain they go. But this one was still hanging in there and offered up some pleasure to drink.
I always liked the Rozay Condrieus quite a lot. This was one of the rare Syrahs from out of Condrieu, but had to be labeled simply CdR. Don't know if Rozay is still ungoing or not...not seen it in yrs.
