WTN: Forlorn-Hope Riesling KickOnRanch '12..(short/boring)

by TomHill » Tue Feb 04, 2014 12:49 pm

Tried this several weeks ago:
1. Forlorn-Hope Riesling KickOnRanch/LosAlamos (12.02%) 2012: Med.gold color; bit lanolin/hand lotion some mineral/stony light floral/R/spicy/pineapple bit Austrian-like attractive nose; soft/rich/lush slight lanolin/hand-lotion bit mineral/stony light R/pineapple/floral flavor; med.long soft/lush slight stony/mineral some R/pineapple/floral some lanolin/hand-lotion finish; a bit short on acidity; sort of a strange rendition of R; not unpleasant but doesn't float my boat. $30.00

1. I met up w/ AdamTolmach in his Ojai tasting room a few weeks ago. Since he makes a KickOnRanch Riesling, I thought he might like to try Matt's effort w/ the grapes. He was diplomatically complimentary. We also had Adam's KickOn Riesling, which I liked a lot better because of its bracing acidity.

Hmmm. Sounds like a wine to skip. I like teeth enamel destroying acidity in riesling!

I'm with you on that, Brian. Not that my dentist would approve.
