1. LeeuwinEstate Chard MargaretRiver/WesternAus (ArtSeries; 14.5%; www.LeeuwinEstate.com.Au; www.OldBridgeCellars.com) DenisHorgan 2009: Med.light gold color; some pungent/reductive/diaper pail nose at first that goes; strong crisp/melony/Chard/celery seed spicy/nutmeg bit chalky/mineral/lanolin slight Chablis-like lovely svelte/racy nose; very tart/crisp/clean/austere strong melony/Chard/celery seed/grapefruity/citric/tangy slight nutmeg/spicy quite Chablis-like rather rich/taut/balanced/chalky flavor; very long tangy/grapefruity/citric/celery seed/Chard/melony crisp/chalky/mineral/Chablis-like slight nutmeg/spicy balanced/taut/wiry/graceful finish; lots of acidity & structure by packed w/ flavor and not thin/eviscerated; not very impressive now but may be something very special in 10-15 yrs; seems pretty overpriced now but may be worth it down the road w/ age. $86.00

2. WindGap PinotGris WindsorOaksVnyd/ChalkHill (12 1/2%; 10 brls/233 cs; #355; 100% skin-frmtd; 45+ days extended
maceration) 2012: Dark orange/burnished bronze/pale salmon color; strong phenolic/cidery/resiny/orange blossom rather complex nose w/ little fruit; soft fairly tannic/austere/astringent light fruity/orangey/floral rather phenolic/resiny/cidery/appley complex flavor; long tangy/austere/tannic rather phenolic/resiny/cidery light orangey/floral complex finish; a pretty classic skin-contact rose w/ lots of phenolic character & rather tannic/austere; will be interesting to see how this ages. $32.00

Ridge Calif Zin PaganiRanch/SonomaVlly LatePicked (15.8%; 7% AlicanteBouschet/4% PS; Bttld: 1/04; SaH: 27.4%; RS: 0.2%; Drk: 12/03-12/08-12/10: PD) 2002: Med.color w/ slight bricking; strong blackberry/Zin/boysenberry rather dusty/OV/earthy slight overripe/pruney/jammy bit alcoholic/fumey nose; soft rather overripe/raisened/jammy strong jammy/Smuckers boysenberry/blackberry/Zin rather dusty/OV very rich/lush bit alcoholic/fumey light vanilla/Am.oak flavor w/ light tannins; very long ripe/overripe/pruney strong boysenberry/framboise/blackberry/Zin/jammy/Smuckers bit alcoholic/fumey some dusty/OV/funky finish w/ light/gentle/soft tannins; somewhat interesting because of the Pagani character but rather overripe & jammy; good as a cheese wine; best drink now as it will only get more raisened/pruney.

1. I liked the WindGap PG quite a lot. Needs to be served at room temperature & with savory/umami-loaded food. Nt sure at all how these wines are going to age.
