Tried this last week in SoCal:
1. AndreaFaccio VillaGiada DOC: Calosso Gamba di Pernice (14%; www.AndreaFaccio.It; EB; L71A10) Canelli NV: Med.dark color; some earthy/smokey rather fragrant/floral/Nebb-like slight pungent/tarry quite attractive perfumed nose; fairly tart light floral/lilacs/Nebb-like slight pungent/tarry flavor w/ light/bitey tannins; med.long rather earthy/dusty light floral/lilacs/roses some pungent/tarry finish w/ light bitey/astringent tannins; some like an AltoAdige Schiava, some like a Piemontese Freisa, some like a Langhe Nebbiolo; a rather attractive wine at a fair price. $20.00 (E-R)

A wee BP:
1. Gamba di Pernice is an ancient Piemontese variety now bordering on extinction. A first for me.
Stumbled across this as as was browsing in Everson-Royce Wines in Pasadena. Located where the old HeritageWines was located. Quite a nice wine shop I thought.
