Das ist einer meiner lieblings Anbauer österrischer Rotweine. Pale salmon color. It looks and smells a little of Bandol Rose, but with more acid and less gout de terroir. Flavors are of freshly picked strawberries (seeds, stems and all), oranges, wildflowers, and like I said, a Loooong acid wash finish. It's very good. It kind of reminds me of vin gris de Pinot Noir. I couldn't find a cepage anywhere, but Pöckl grows St. Laurent, Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Pinot Noir as well as Cab and Merlot. I'll rule out the latter two, but the rest is fair game, though I'd lean towards Sankt Laurent and Zweigelt because of the delicate flavors. I'll definitely buy it again. A great value at $12. -12% vol.
Prost!
