I went over to Chef Patrick's in Guerneville for supper tonight and took along a bottle of the stuff up there in the caption.
I'd had leftover roast leg of lamb for three days running, so I was ready for something other than red meat, and found a nice dish of prawns with lots of veggies and cappellini pasta, that the wine I'd brought fit very well.
Neutral oak, some malo, the kind of tartness found in a lot of '10 whites from Sonoma County (the weather was challenging for the growers), really balanced. Not overblown, fit the prawns quite well. (I don't like blowsy Chard.) 13.6% alcohol, $30 at the winery.
The winery is fun to visit if you can call ahead or happen to catch them open as i did last July.
And as i looked up at the sky after putting the car away, I saw Orion rising in the east. Sirius was still below the hills.
