1999 Úri Borok Tokaji 6 puttonyos Aszú
Deep amber/gold. Viscous, almost like olive oil. On day 1 it's primarily showing amazing ethereal notes of apricot blossoms, green tea leaves and dark coffee.
I know from past bottles that it will take days to make this beauty open up and present its gorgeous fruit, complexity and minerality. It doesn't have a sweet aftertaste, actually. It ends on notes of refreshing minerality and subtle green tea like tannins. I feel extremely privileged to enjoy such a gem. 99.99% of all wines from this world are dispensable. This one isn't. It's high-class Tokaji which always has the power to change your life - like great music ..

So, this one is starting to come around, is it? I never believed much in it and thus never bought any... The only 99 I really liked was the Lapis.

Never had a hard time with this. Maybe because I've bought it only 2 years ago?
I like it better than any other 99 Tokaji that I've tried so far.
By the way, are you still convinced of the Lapis?

Convinced about the Lapis? Nah, drank my last one a long time ago!

About Vince besting the opposition: he is in my opinion totally hors pair and perhaps one should never doubt his wines.

Well, I suppose Marta deserves a mention, too!

The first Ringlands for the tasting arrive today! :D

So you did not expect it to keep up well?

You should have shipped it to me for pre-tasting checks
